We’re celebrating our 10th BaseCamp Dinner for Men, Friday, May 6th, 7pm in the UBC Fellowship Hall (FamJamz Theater). It is no overstatement to say that our theme this time is probably the most fun and provocative subject we’ve tackled yet:

Upside Down Love: Loving Your Lady Differently

We’ll be discussing how to love that special woman in your life and discovering what it takes to love her in ways that make sense to her. Whether you’re married, engaged, dating, or still looking for that exceptional lady, you don’t want to miss this BaseCamp Dinner. It has the potential to change your life – for good! This is a “night out with the guys,” in a casual, entertaining environment featuring BaseCamp’s legendary food, live music, and fun with The Riddler. The BaseCamp Dinner for Men is still priced right at only $15.00. And take note: Once the ladies hear about this BaseCamp topic, they’ll be rushing the computer to register their men. Let’s beat them to it! Register online at ubcmiami.org/basecamp or email us.

Chase the Goose Study for BaseCamp Men

art_elements4
Saturday morning, January 22, 2011, BaseCamp Men will begin a six week study of Mark Batterson’s book entitled Chase the Goose. We’ll begin each session at 8:00 with coffee and bagels and be finished by 10:00. This will be a tremendous interactive time as we discover the six cages that typically keep men from achieving their goals and dreams. Most importantly, we’ll learn how to come out of those cages of 1) responsibility, 2) routine, 3) assumptions, 4) guilt, 5) failure, and 6) fear. This is good stuff, guys. Join us! Register online.

Purchase the Chase the Goose Member Book for this study.

BaseCamp Breakfast (May 15th)

Great night at BaseCamp a couple weekends ago! Prime rib dinner, excellent live music and soul-expanding words from Louie Giglio. And this was just the beginning. Our follow-up BaseCamp Breakfast is Saturday morning, May 15th, 8:00-10:00 a.m., we’ll continue our theme, DASH: The Line Between Life and Death. And here’s what you can expect:

  • A casual (come as you are) environment
  • A delicious and hearty breakfast
  • Extended time of discussion around breakfast tables
  • Another thought provoking challenge from the Louie Giglio DVD - as he picks up where he left off at the BaseCamp dinner.

Remember the question he left us with? Will you give up the starring role in the iddy-biddy story of “you” in order to play an eternal role in the great big story of God?

At the breakfast, Louie will address the practical side of the topic by answering the question: What is the most purposeful and fulfilling way for a man to live?

You shouldn’t miss this. Let me encourage you to make these two hours a priority on your schedule.

The price is right: still only $5.00 dropped into a basket at the door. And if you don’t have it - come anyway. The important thing is that you’re with us!

You have to register by Clicking Here.
Hope to see you there,

Lyle Green

BaseCamp Men Getting It Done

Men of BaseCamp,

I’m just touching base.

BaseCamp men have had a great month - accomplished so much!

untitled2At Open House Ministries in Homestead (OHM): On January 6th, an extremely cold, wet, windy day, about 30 BaseCamp men (and sons of BaseCamp men) tenaciously persevered through uncomfortable weather to complete a project that meant so much OHM and their kids.  BaseCamp men…

  • Moved and rebuilt five 10′ x 4′ raised gardens: drilling & lag bolting the timbers, stapling landscape fabric, Installing 2″ x 6″ top rail seats with mortise joints, filling rebuilt garden frames withfresh composted topsoil, then replanting the gardens. A new landscape drip irrigation system was also installed (…thanks Rudy!).
  • Painted OHM building interior hallways and exterior doors.
  • Dug an irrigation ditch from the west-building perimeter to the parking lot in order to prevent flooding into the air conditioning room.
  • Distributed soil to fill holes on the soccer field.

teamwork2Food for the Poor: On MLK Day, over 20 BaseCamp men assembled at a warehouse in Doral to unload (and wrap for shipping) 18, 659 lbs (19 pallets) of food, medical materials, as well as hygiene and baby supplies headed for Haiti.  It was a faced-paced coordinated effort - like clockwork and it was fun!

Habitat for Humanity: BaseCamp men are doing a Blitz Build for Habitat for Humanity the next two Saturdays (Feb. 6th and 13th).  BaseCamp men have already filled our quota:  there’s no more room for workers - we’re packed.

What’s next? BaseCamp Dinner for Men on Friday, April 16th.  Put it on your calendar today!

I’ll keep you posted, guys.  The Lord is accomplishing much through BaseCamp men who care about their local community.

It’s great working with you guys,

Lyle Green
