Parent Dedication - Fall 2012

pplus_dedication_logo1

Christ Journey Church recognizes the vast responsibility of parenthood and is committed to preparing parents of babies to understand their new God-given roles. We have written a Parent’s Covenant and offer our parents the opportunity to accept these responsibilities before God and their church family in a ceremony we call Parent Dedication.

To assist parents in understanding these responsibilities and how Christ Journey joins you in them, we offer three Parenting Intensive classes which must be completed before participating in the Parent Dedication ceremony. The Intensives begin Sunday, Nov. 4 and continue weekly through Nov. 18th. We meet in room 201 from 10:45 am to 12:15pm. Click here to register and make sure to mark your calendars for Parent Dedication, Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012.

Contact Carmen at 305-448-4425 ext. 258 or care.ministry@ubcmiami.org if you have any problems or questions about registering!

All parents of Middle and High School-age students are invited to join us  for a candid and refreshing perspective on sex done God’s way. We will help parents address important questions like: How do I have “The Talk” and keep on talking? What do I do if my teen is sexually active? What do I do if my son or daughter thinks they are gay?

XXXplicit Parenting Intensive
Sunday, Feb 27th & Sunday, March 6th • 10:15-12:00pm • Room 202

Join us as we assist you in communicating with your teens about alcohol and to prevent underage drinking. When parents take this 30 minute course, research has shown a reduction in the teens’ underage drinking by 30%. Research shows that parents are an important influence on whether or not teens choose to drink alcohol. Teens do care about their parent’s opinions – in fact most teens say their parents are the leading influence on their decisions about drinking! Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how to exercise your influence on such and important topic.

The Wonder Years

Ah, the sweet peace of the Elementary Years - after the trials of parenting an infant, toddler and preschooler, and the “calm before the Tween/Teenage storm”.These years can tend to be less stressful - but they are no less important to navigate well.  These years are fundamental building block years for what is to come in the life of your child.

Join us to learn what your role as a parent is in this stage and how to help your child be ready to successfully (and peacefully!) manage the teenage years.

January 19, 26 & Feb. 2, 2011 • 7:00 - 9:00pm • UBC Room 202

Parenting Intensive - “Phobia” Oct 6, 13 & 20, 2010

What are you afraid of? Heights? Snakes?Lightning? If you are the parent of a teen your greatest fear may actually be parenting your teen!

Join us on October 6, 13 and 20 to talk about parenting teens and the fears they face- and how to be the parent they need during these years.

Intensive will meet at UBC • Room 201 • 7-9pm

Parenting Intensive - “Tween” (4-6 Grade)

parenting_plus_logo3

tween - a youngster considered too old to be a child and too young to be a teenager.

If you are the parent of a 4-6 grader, you can consider yourself the parent of a ‘tween or a “pre-’tween”! This can be a very interesting and challenging transition for your family!

Join us on Sept 19 and 26 from 10:15- 12:00pm to learn what to expect during this very unique and important time, what your role as a parent is, and how to continue to invest in the relationship with your ‘tween.  Monthly after that join our 4-6th Grade Parent Forum to discuss and share with other parents who are in this stage of parenting.
