Reminder-Parent Meeting Tonight, Feb 23rd at 7:oopm

This meeting will be held in the Fellowship Hall which is located across from Room 101. We hope that you will join us as we answer as many questions as possible about this upcoming opportunity with Somerset!

Will a representative from Somerset be coming the parent meeting on Feb 23rd?

There will not be a person from Somerset attending the parent meeting on Feb. 23rd, however, they are willing to answer any questions that you have. You can email them to cdcubc@ubcmiami.org and we can find out the answers for you before the meeting. They are more than available to answer any questions you might have.

Letter to our CDC Parents

Dear Parents,

UBC is committed to joining with parents to shape the hearts of children in the formative years of their lives. Our hope is that you have experienced this personally during your time with us. The Child Development Center has loved having all of you as part of our family; some of you for many years. Our staff has greatly enjoyed getting to know your families and children along with their cousins and friends! We’d like you to know that we consider you a part of our extended UBC family, and you are always welcome and encouraged to join us in any of the great programs we offer for children and their families.

You need to know that UBC has a unique and exciting opportunity we are pursuing with great anticipation. We are involved in negotiations with Somerset Academy, a charter school that wants to lease our building, providing our community with a school known for exemplary academic standards. We are requesting that they offer a program for three and four year olds, but unfortunately, the details and the completion of our negotiations are not finalized.

This means that CDC will close at the conclusion of this school year. Though the contract with the charter school is not finalized, we cannot in good conscience ask you to wait any longer to know what may be offered at UBC. We desire that you have ample time to consider the options that will best serve your family. We can assure you that this has been a difficult decision knowing what CDC has meant to families, and what CDC has meant to UBC, but we are praying that this will provide other opportunities for you and us that are even greater.

We anticipate the lease negotiations to be finalized by the end of the month and as soon as information becomes available regarding Somerset, we will notify you. In the meantime, we want to answer your questions and concerns. You can email me at cdcubc@ubcmiami.org. Also, a CDC Blog has been set up at www.ubcmiami.org/blogs/cdc.  I will post answers to questions I receive via email, so you will have the most accurate and current information. We will also host a parent meeting Tuesday, February 23rd at 7:00 PM for all CDC families. Bill White, UBC’s Senior Pastor, Ginger Mokher, Director of Family Ministry, and I will be present to answer your questions.

We know that this is an unexpected transition for you and your family and we want to help in any way possible.  We love you and are so grateful to have had the opportunity to serve you through CDC.  UBC looks forward to serving you in the years ahead.

Sincerely,

Kay Gackle
