You can participate by bringing non-perishable food items to the Filling Station. And guess what!?! You will receive 1,000 points for every item you bring! So, ask your friends, neighbors, and family members for help, and let’s spread hope to our community together!

Pick up your Easter Family Invite this weekend
Easter gives us a great opportunity to show love and share hope with friends and family. Because it’s Easter, many who would not normally come through our doors are more open and motivated to attend church. And what better day for them to come than the day we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection and the hope that we have in Him?!This year, we want your family to CHOOSE one or two families that you will personally invite to attend UBC on Easter with you. Here’s how:
- Talk about which families you want to CHOOSE to personally invite. Bring your kids into the conversation. Make it a family decision!
- Visit the table in the breezeway this Sunday to pick up an invitation packet, which includes an Easter invite with all of the service times listed and a yummy treat for your guests.
- Write a personal note to the family you will be inviting on the front of the card.
- Plan to deliver the invitation(s) as a family.
- Pray for your guests, and pray that God will use Easter @ UBC as a breakthrough in the lives of people across Miami.
Lights, Camera, Action!
Last week, in Highway 252, our 4th & 5th graders were busy filming commercials about honor. They were asked to choose someone in authority over them and work together to plan out and film a commercial about why we should honor that person. Here’s what one group came up with. Parents, you’ll appreciate this one!

The Filling Station is here!
As kids return to Highway 252, we are excited to announce the opening of our “Filling Station”. One of our Ministry Plan goals for this year is to “implement age -appropriate incentives to help every child in Hwy 252 develop healthy spiritual habits”. We plan to do this by implementing a point system for the kids to use on a weekly basis. Our desire is for your child to have an exciting incentive to develop habits that we believe will help them grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
Here is how it works:
1,000 points - Check in to the Filling Station - Your child can earn points for simply checking in to the Filling Station!
1,000 points - Recite the virtue and definition - Your child can earn 1,000 points for reciting the current month’s virtue and definition every week. If they do it every week, that adds up to at least 4,000 points in one month! On the first week of the month, we will accept the current month’s virtue as well as the last month’s virtue.
1,000 - Look up and mark the memory verse in their Bible - Your child can earn 1,000 points by showing us the month’s memory verse highlighted or underlined in their Bible. On the first week of the month, we will accept the current month’s verse as well as the last month’s verse.
2,000 points - Bring their Bible to Highway 252 - Your child can earn points for showing their own Bible at the Filling Station.
5,000 - Recite the memory verse - We will award your child 5,000 points for reciting the memory verse for the month. On the first week of the month, we will accept the current month’s verse as well as the last month’s verse.
10,000 - Bring a signed GodTime Card - GodTime cards help your child develop a healthy habit of spending time with God. If you sign your child’s completed GodTime Card, they can earn points! GodTime cards are emailed to you weekly, and can also be found at ubcmiami.org/highwayblog. If you do another form of devotional time with your child, let us know and we’ll accept that, too.
10,000 - Bring a first-time visitor - When your child brings a friend for the first time, be sure to stop by the Filling Station with their guest. We will award 10,000 points for first-time visitors!
Our desire is for parents to partner with us by encouraging, reminding and assisting your children with the above items on a weekly basis when they come to Hwy 252. Prizes will be available for the first time on the weekend of January 28/29. As your child’s points accumulate, they can spend them on a variety of prizes on the last weekend of every month (i.e., candy, games, etc.) Some kids will save and some will spend, spend, spend. Help your child realize that some of the more ‘expensive’ prizes will be worth waiting for.
The filling station will be located in Room 212. There will be volunteers there before services, in between services and immediately following the 6:00 PM and 11:00 AM services. See you there!
Highway 252 Generosity Tree
UBC will be sponsoring a missions trip to the Bahamas in December and there is a way that YOU and your family can support the trip and get involved! This weekend, we start talking about the virtue of generosity - making someone’s day by giving something away. So, starting this weekend, December 3rd/4th, we will be collecting donations for our Generosity Tree.
Here’s how it works: your child brings $5 to Highway 252, chooses a gift to sponsor, and we buy the gift! Your child will get to write his/her name on a paper ornament and we will hang it on the Generosity Tree.
The gifts will all be taken down to the Bahamas by the UBC team, and will be given to needy kids during Karazim Ministry’s Annual Christmas Feast.
Money will be collected during large group during the month of December. So, encourage your kids break their piggy banks or do extra jobs around the house to earn some extra money, and make someone else’s Christmas this month!
