Following the run/walk, a church-wide picnic with games and activities for kids will be enjoyed by all. You’re not gonna want to miss the fun, food, and fellowship! The event will be hosted at Westminster Christian School Track & Field (6855 S.W. 152 Street) from 9am - 1pm. The picnic will start around 11:30a and is potluck - so be sure to bring food to share. Drinks will be provided.

All ages are welcome to participate in the 5K. Click here to register.

In order to participate in the 5K you must bring at least one of the following:

Reusable grocery bag or drawstring tote bag
Rain Poncho
White Adult Socks
Mens or Womens Underwear
Toothbrush
Mini- Toothpaste
Deodorant
Individual packages of band aids
Individual packages of Wet Wipes
Small bottles of antibacterial gel/purell
Gallon size zip lock bags

Chapstick

Get a head-start on the 5K by bringing in any of the items on the list to HWY 252. We will be collecting these items from Feb. 11 - 26 in the Filling Station (room 212). For each item your child brings, they will receive 1,000 points!

The Filling Station is here!

filling-station-logo

As kids return to Highway 252, we are excited to announce the opening of our “Filling Station”. One of our Ministry Plan goals for this year is to “implement age -appropriate incentives to help every child in Hwy 252 develop healthy spiritual habits”. We plan to do this by implementing a point system for the kids to use on a weekly basis. Our desire is for your child to have an exciting incentive to develop habits that we believe will help them grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Here is how it works:

1,000 points - Check in to the Filling Station - Your child can earn points for simply checking in to the Filling Station!

1,000 points - Recite the virtue and definition - Your child can earn 1,000 points for reciting the current month’s virtue and definition every week. If they do it every week, that adds up to at least 4,000 points in one month! On the first week of the month, we will accept the current month’s virtue as well as the last month’s virtue.

1,000 - Look up and mark the memory verse in their Bible - Your child can earn 1,000 points by showing us the month’s memory verse highlighted or underlined in their Bible. On the first week of the month, we will accept the current month’s verse as well as the last month’s verse.

2,000 points - Bring their Bible to Highway 252 - Your child can earn points for showing their own Bible at the Filling Station.

5,000 - Recite the memory verse - We will award your child 5,000 points for reciting the memory verse for the month. On the first week of the month, we will accept the current month’s verse as well as the last month’s verse.

10,000 - Bring a signed GodTime Card - GodTime cards help your child develop a healthy habit of spending time with God. If you sign your child’s completed GodTime Card, they can earn points! GodTime cards are emailed to you weekly, and can also be found at ubcmiami.org/highwayblog. If you do another form of devotional time with your child, let us know and we’ll accept that, too.

10,000 - Bring a first-time visitor - When your child brings a friend for the first time, be sure to stop by the Filling Station with their guest. We will award 10,000 points for first-time visitors!

Our desire is for parents to partner with us by encouraging, reminding and assisting your children with the above items on a weekly basis when they come to Hwy 252. Prizes will be available for the first time on the weekend of January 28/29. As your child’s points accumulate, they can spend them on a variety of prizes on the last weekend of every month (i.e., candy, games, etc.) Some kids will save and some will spend, spend, spend. Help your child realize that some of the more ‘expensive’ prizes will be worth waiting for.

The filling station will be located in Room 212. There will be volunteers there before services, in between services and immediately following the 6:00 PM and 11:00 AM services. See you there!

Family Donation Celebration!

jump-logoHey families!

Join us on Saturday, August 20th as we drop off the books and backpacks we have collected this summer! Open House Ministries is having their annual Back-to-School Bash and Highway 252 is invited to join the fun! After OHM kids visit each of the carnival booths, they will receive one of the backpacks we collected. Your family can help run a booth, or even join in the carnival games! Let’s partner with this Community Center to help kids in Homestead start the school year off right!

We will meet at UBC at 8:00 am and travel to OHM (1350 SW 4th St. Homestead, Fl 33030). For families going to the beach baptism, a second van will leave UBC at 11:00 am. Donuts will be provided for the earlier crew, but we suggest bringing a sack lunch to eat as we caravan back to UBC at 1:30 pm.

If you have any questions, contact Becky at becky.blanco@ubcmiami.org or 305.448.4425 x.272
