Current Series

The Environmental Protection Agency claims the average American produces about 4.4 pounds of garbage a day, 29 pounds per week & 1,600 pounds a year. No, we’re not trying to make you feel guilty. In fact, Americans are not the #1 garbage producer in the world…

But consumer culture makes it all too easy to take the priceless & treat it as if it were meant merely to be used up then thrown on the trash heap. In our new series we let God’s Word teach us how to treasure what truly matters & show that family, marriage, our bodies, time & income are so much more than Disposable.

My Spiritual Journey:

I don’t remember not knowing Jesus, but it was in 11th grade when I realized my need for Him. It was my first UBC youth camp, and my dad had passed away just 3 weeks before, so I was looking for life’s meaning. We were watching a video about Jesus, then there He was…also dying, but also living, reminding me of the end of my story. I finally understood His sacrifice for my life. I found my meaning.

How I Ended Up at UBC:

I started coming to UBC in high school, after many families had been inviting mine for years. Then during college, I was asked to consider a UBC summer internship, which was great because I needed some work, so I interned in Student and Worship Arts Ministry over three summers and ended up loving it more than a job. I guess God was preparing me for the rest of my life because, well… they haven’t kicked me off the island since.

What I do:

I serve as the Director of HWY 252 and FamJamz, the elementary ministries at UBC. I have the awesome privilege of seeing how God helps kids and parents grow stronger together as they learn more about God and faith. I love that many of my work hours are spent coming up with creative, unconventional (and sometimes messy) ways to show them who God is and how desperately He loves us. Contact me if you want to chat about that!

Dream for UBC:

My dream for UBC is that anyone who visits for the first time or 500th time would leave knowing that they are important and that God has a unique contribution for them to make on this side of heaven.

What I love about UBC: I love that UBC loves my kids.

Before UBC I was....

finishing school, teaching music and voice, gigging around town and thinking I was supposed to move away.

Hobbies:

a little of this and a little of that… I’ve got three boys now, so recent hobbies include light sabers, Lego Playstation(TM) games and dirt. Hobbies…hmmm…I can’t remember. :)
