The Environmental Protection Agency claims the average American produces about 4.4 pounds of garbage a day, 29 pounds per week & 1,600 pounds a year. No, we’re not trying to make you feel guilty. In fact, Americans are not the #1 garbage producer in the world…

But consumer culture makes it all too easy to take the priceless & treat it as if it were meant merely to be used up then thrown on the trash heap. In our new series we let God’s Word teach us how to treasure what truly matters & show that family, marriage, our bodies, time & income are so much more than Disposable.

My Spiritual Journey:

I asked Jesus to come into my heart 35 years ago here at UBC and was baptized a couple of weeks later. As a child, I understood the importance of growing in my relationship with Jesus Christ. Over the last 30 plus years, I have done this through small groups, serving, worship and seeking God’s plan for my life. I believe that God has a plan for me and I continue to seek and grow in my relationship with Him.

How I Ended Up at UBC:

I was invited to attend VBS by my 4th grade teacher at Coral Gables Elementary. My parents brought me that week to VBS and on the following Sunday I announced that I wanted to attend UBC. Our family was attending another church at the time but it didn’t take long for us to begin attending and then everntually join. We have been here ever since!

What I do:

I love what I do because I get to work with awesome volunteers who LOVE children and their families. I also get to have interaction with these families on a weekly basis as they fill the hallways of Hwy252. The excitement of the children as they head into their rooms each week motivates me and is a great reminder of why I am called to do what I do.

Dream for UBC:

My dream is that we can continue to help people in the city of Miami find and follow Christ.

What I love about UBC: I love the people at UBC! I have people who have invested in me as a kid who are now investing in my children's lives and are still serving here at UBC. UBC is my home away from home!

Hobbies:

Organizing, running and shopping

Favorite Bible Verse: Philippians 4:13

Favorite TV Shows:

I love reality TV shows – pretty much anything that falls into this category.

On my iPod (if you have one):

Chick flicks – the better part of this is that my husband will go with me!

Miami Restaurants: PF Chang's

Vacation Spot: North Carolina mountains and the beaches - best when we can hit both on one vacation!

Random Fact:

The only other person I know who spells “Barbra” like me is Barbra Streisand
