Thanks for partnering with us at Touching Miami with Love! We’re kicking off collections for our annual program, The Back to Back Store!
Our store is unique in that we don’t just give away backpacks and supplies, we empower our families and are able to do much more. With their purchase of $5 for a backpack and grade level supply kit, Touching Miami with Love purchases in bulk the classroom supplies requested by our schools. Reams of copy paper, loads of Kleenex tissues, cases of hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes and more are trucked into our partner schools to bless the hard working teachers—AND the parents in our local charter school (of which over 85% of our elementary students attend) receive 2 hours of parental involvement for their donation. (These parent hours are worth $20 if they weren’t able to complete the full number of hours required). The Back to Back Store follows our model of empowering families and has been very well received. On Wednesday, August 15th we’ll host The Back to Back Store in conjunction with our Parenting Meeting and Ice Cream Party. Here’s how you can help!
1. Consider hosting a Backpack and School Supply Collection this summer— Click here for supply list. Donations should be received no later than Monday, August 13th please. We will be glad to pick up your supplies if needed.
2. Volunteer during our Sorting Day—we sort out all donated supplies and create grade level supply kits for all the kids so we’re sure they have exactly what they need for the start of school. Sorting day will be held, Tuesday, August 14th from 5pm-9pm. Please share this volunteer need with your group and email me angel@touchingmiamiwithlove.org with your group’s count. (24 volunteer limit please)
3. Host our Ice Cream Party—this is always a fun way for us to celebrate the start of school with our families. Volunteers are needed to serve ice cream and dole out toppings and hang out with our TML kids while their parents are meeting during our event and shop at Back to Back on Wednesday, August 15th from 6pm-8pm. We ask for hosts to purchase tubs of ice cream, toppings, bowls, napkins, and spoons for 150 and 6-8 volunteers.
